Talent Analysis

NHL-sized already, the two-way blue liner has progressed rapidly in his time with Kootenay. The Ice captain was used in all situations and at all times of the game because of his ability at both ends of the rink. Penalty minutes are potentially misleading as although he will fight, critics would like to see him play tougher in his all-around game. With maturity and increased confidence, that should come naturally in the near future. While his skating has improved since he was drafted, it still is the weakest part of his game.
Future

McNabb begins his pro career in 2011-12 with Rochester and with a solid showing through the beginning of the season he could be one of the first players called up due to injury because of his toughness. The long term outlook for McNabb is that of a future top four defenseman. How high he rises will really be determined by how much his skating improves, his NHL ceiling could be that of a second defenseman or as low as a fifth.
