Talent Analysis
Wingels is an outstanding two-way forward that won’t shy away from playing the body. One of his best attributes is his hands. He is a competent playmaker and distributes the puck really well. He is very poised and patient with the puck. Wingels moves with the puck quite well and his decision-making with it is also very good. As good as Wingels is offensively, he is equally good defensively. His defensive zone play is excellent. He does a great job of containing opposing players and taking away passing/shooting lanes. He also sees the ice really well. Wingels transitions well, skates with very smooth strides and has good speed, but he needs to develop a quicker first step. Wingels works and competes hard, and nowhere is that more evident than in his goal scoring.
Future
Wingels will hope to use the NHL playoff experience to raise his game to the next level for the upcoming season and find a place on the NHL Sharks' roster out of training camp.
