Talent Analysis
The lanky Slovak blue liner is an excellent skater for his size and shows tremendous mobility. He uses his reach very effectively and his offensive instincts and skill set serve him well--both breaking out of his own zone as well as in a power play quarterbacking role. He can play with an edge (as was evidenced at the 2011 World Junior Championships) however he isn't overly physical. He still needs to work on polishing his defensive game, but has all the tools to grow into being an excellent defensive player.
Future
After a blazing start to his first North American season as an 18-year-old in the WHL, Marincin noticeably ran out of gas as the year wore on. He will be back for another full year as a 19-year-old to work on his endurance and bulk up before turning pro. At his peak, he projects as a fluid, smooth skating top four defenseman whose offense is his calling card.
