Talent Analysis
Blessed with a highly gifted skill-set, Ekman-Larsson has all the tools of a future all-star defenseman. He is a tremendous skater who gets around the ice effortlessly and possesses the ability to create plays with the puck on his stick in any position thanks to his incredible mobility. He is also extremely poised with and without the puck, and never panics due to a high hockey IQ and strong overall hockey sense. Defensively, Ekman-Larsson plays a safe game utilizing his good stick-work and poke-checking ability. Although his style does not require him to be overly physical, he does need to add strength and concentrate on becoming more of a confident defender in his own end.
Future
Smooth-skating, all-around rear-guard has the potential to play on the top pair as well as possessing all-star calibre talent. Having already played nearly half a season in the NHL, Ekman-Larsson appears on his way to enjoying a long National Hockey League career.
